Morocco has it all!

Unless Morocco falls into problems due to Islamic terrorism, the tourism sector is certain to grow. Tourism is up over 50% since 2002, and although Europeans make up the bulk, Americans are traveling there in increasing numbers.

Morocco has:

1) beautiful beaches on two coasts, the Atlantic and Mediterranean, with many resort towns
2) two ranges of mountains, the Rif and the Atlas; great for hiking
3) deserts for camel safaris and 4-wheeling
4) great art and architecture
4) a very 'moderate' Islamic culture
5) the Imperial Cities of Meknes, Fez, and Marrakesh with their unique cultures
6) the gorgeous landscapes, and unique towns like Ourzazate, which has been the backdrop in several Hollywood movies
7) Roman ruins
8) old walled medinas, which are the original Arab quarters, full of tiny, twisting streets, tight enough to get lost in, but full of shops and cafes.
9) unbelievably delicious food
10) a very good train system
11) and best of all, very friendly people

Obviously, Morocco has it's share of problems as well. But there are enough unique things about this country to make it stand out as a great tourist destination. I want to go back! And on my next trip, I want to spend some time in Fez.
